FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE

Final Fantasy Resonance is the first HD-2D game in the Final Fantasy series, launching October 22, 2026. It rebuilds the opening arc of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius as a full, single-purchase console RPG — pixel-art heroes, dioramic worlds, a stagger-driven battle system, and Visions of legendary Final Fantasy heroes.

What is Final Fantasy Resonance?

Final Fantasy Resonance is a turn-based RPG announced on June 9, 2026 and launching on October 22, 2026. It is the first entry in the series to use the HD-2D art style, pairing pixel-art characters with dioramic 3D environments, dynamic camera angles and dramatic lighting.

The game rebuilds the first story arc of the mobile RPG Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Square Enix describes it not as a straightforward port but as a title "extensively rebuilt" into a full console-quality experience — a single purchase with no gacha and no grind.

An HD-2D town at dusk — the hero crosses a stone bridge lined with glowing blue crystal lamps toward a tall stone manor as light rays pour through the mist.

The world of Lapis

The story unfolds across Lapis, a world watched over by elemental Crystals. You begin in the Kingdom of Grandshelt, a "kingdom of knights" whose people live under the Crystals' protection, and travel outward by foot, chocobo and — later — a fully controllable airship.

Towns, shrines and dungeons are rendered as tilt-shift dioramas. Classic Final Fantasy touchstones return throughout: moogles, espers, Magitek and the Crystals themselves are woven into the world.

A towering green Earth Crystal glows within a pillared shrine, motes of light drifting around it.

A tale of Crystals

Knights Rain and Lasswell are sent to investigate the Earth Shrine after its protective barrier weakens. Inside, they meet Veritas of the Dark, who shatters the Earth Crystal and assaults Grandshelt. Joined by the amnesiac Fina, the party sets out to protect the world's remaining Crystals.

Final Fantasy Resonance is billed as "a tale of Crystals" with the tagline "Hope resonates within the crystals" — a story of revenge and bonds that draws its cast and setting from Brave Exvius while rewriting its scenario from the ground up.
